That's the most common reason a craft project runs longer than expected — not any single step being slow, but the sheer number of small, individually quick attachments stacking up.
This calculator does that multiplication for you and adds in the setup and pause time real projects actually have, so you can look at a project before you start and know roughly whether it fits in a lunch break or needs a whole evening set aside.

How do I estimate seconds per piece?
Think about how fussy each attachment is. A simple dot-and-press job — a sequin, a small tessera — is roughly 5-10 seconds once you're in a rhythm. A moderate attachment that needs positioning and a firm hold, like a silk petal or a trim piece, is closer to 15-20 seconds. A detailed or awkward attachment — a model part that needs aligning, or a piece you're holding at an angle — can run 30 seconds or more.
Why include gun preheat time?
A cold glue gun takes a few minutes to reach working temperature, and that's dead time before you can start — easy to forget when you're mentally counting only the gluing itself. Including it gives a more honest "start to finish" figure, especially for shorter projects where preheat is a bigger share of the total.
What counts as a drying pause between layers?
Any point where you have to stop and wait for glue to set before continuing — building a multi-layer wreath base, letting a mosaic's first row set before adding a second, or waiting for a model's frame to hold before attaching panels. If your project is single-layer with no such waits, leave this at 0.
Does this account for cleanup time?
No — it only covers the active building: preheat, attaching pieces, and any drying pauses you plan for. Add your own estimate for trimming glue strings, wiping the gun, and tidying up if you want a true start-to-finish figure for your evening.
