Rotarians to host gun safety violence reduction conference in Dearborn

    The Taking Action for Peace Initiative conference will feature a panel discussion with experts and community leaders.

    There will be three panels at the conference — the nature of the issue and understanding the role of firearms in society. The impact of examining the effects of gun-related issues on communities and exploring strategies for safety and violence reduction through solutions and advocacy. Brownstown Deputy Chief of Police Andy Starzec will talk about the change in perspective with gun violence.

    She will discuss the lack of transparency in the gun lobby’s efforts to influence state and local policies.
